The certificate course includes introductory information regarding vestibular assessment and treatment. The content provides the participant with a strong foundation for continued learning and success for future coursework as a lifelong learner and dedicated practitioner.
Upon completing this course, you'll be able to:
- Accurately identify three types of dizziness including mechanical, peripheral, or central
- Assess and treat posterior canal BPPV (mechanical vestibular dysfunction) utilizing the Epley manuever
- Assess unilateral peripheral vestibular dysfunction and be able to initiate basic vestibular adaptation exercises

Description & Objectives
This course expands on our Introduction to Vestibular Rehabilitation course by Kendal Reddell, PT, DPT, NCS. This course starts with a discussion on the value of establishing a trusting connection with patients, the importance of establishing an early diagnosis, and the impact of a delayed diagnosis. You gain more insight into developing targeted questions for the intake to create a working and differential diagnosis to aid you in what vestibular and/or bedside tests are indicated. You will also learn the guiding principles of vestibular rehabilitation and how to transition from exam findings to interventions. You will also hear a discussion on age-related vestibular findings and learn the importance of customizing the care plan. The content of this course was primarily designed to provide a foundation for more advanced, The Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation (CCVR), course. The objectives of this course are targeted toward a better understanding of vestibular related concepts in preparation of the CCVR coursework and competency-based skills as a more advanced practitioner.

- Identify the value of establishing a respectful and empathetic connection during the patient interview
- Define the prevalence of dizziness & balance disorders across the lifespan
- Recognize the impact of a delayed diagnosis
- Understand the importance of the subjective history and value to create a working diagnosis
- Define appropriate and targeted questions about “dizziness” during a subjective interview
- Understand how to transition from the subjective findings to objective clinical tests
- Identify the similarities and differences between common vestibular diagnoses
- Understand the value of vestibular diagnostics in identifying and managing vestibular-related disorders
- Identify appropriate bedside tests to identify vestibular dysfunction and balance disorders
- Recognize how objective findings correlate with treatment activities

The Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation (CCVR) 2.0 Course is designed to build your understanding and know-how through practical application of the methodologies in vestibular rehabilitation – the same methodologies we use to assess and treat the vestibular population.
The CCVR 2.0 Course provides you a convenient and flexible path to advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation through online coursework & live (or virtual) lab. Follow along with our guided lesson plan (more details below) or progress through the materials at your own pace.
