This item is a bundled package of 10 virtual reality glasses and access to 6 downloadable videos to address visually induced dizziness or visual motion sensitivity. The bundled kit includes multiple clear VR glasses for you to provide patients as part of their home program and/or have the ability for multiple clinicians to be using them simultaneously.

Of the 6 videos, there are 4 downloadable optokinetic videos: one with vertically oriented stripes moving right to left; one with vertically oriented stripes moving left to right; one with horizontal-oriented stripes moving up to down, and one with horizontal vertical stripes moving down to up. The other 2 videos are optic flow that also gradually increases in contrast and includes a red and green dot that randomly moves, placing a demand on both eye teaming and saccades.

Purpose

Visually Induced Dizziness(ViD), or Visual Induced Motion Sensitivity (VIMS), is thought to be due to 1) a visual-vestibular mismatch combined with 2) a decreased use of somatosensory inputs for balance. The use of moving horizontal and vertical black-and-white lines is to create an optokinetic stimulation, which has been shown to activate multiple visual-vestibular cortical and subcortical areas in both hemispheres.

The purpose of using virtual reality (VR) glasses is to provide a greater perception of a larger visual-field stimulus without the need for a larger screen or the use of more expensive technology. The VR glasses are not intended to replace the use of more sophisticated technology but as an accessible tool in the clinic or that the patient/client can use at home.

The minimum equipment needed is VR glasses and a mobile phone that fits into the VR glasses and can play videos. For the best use of time with the patient/client, it is recommended to have the video readily available on the clinician’s phone or the patient’s/client’s phone.
